Welcome Butterbiggins Medical Centre
With patient’s needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.
Please note: we will be closed on Friday 30th March and Monday 2nd April 2018 for the Easter public holidays. Please ensure you have enough medication to cover this period. If you require urgent medical attention when the practice is closed, please telephone NHS24 on 111.
Please note: it takes 6 weeks to obtain travel vaccinations from the Practice. If you wish to do so, please complete a Travel Health - Pre Travel Clinic Record Form (available on this website) and hand it in to the surgery - please do not submit it via the website as it can get lost. If you submit a travel form, please contact the surgery a week later to ask if there are any travel prescriptions for you to collect prior to making an appointment to have the vaccines administered. Thank you.
Is your GP the most appropriate person to deal with your complaint?
Please refer to www.knowwhototurnto.org for help to direct you to the appropriate service. For eye complaints please attend an Optician, for dental complaints please attend a Dentist. Pharmacies can offer advice on minor ilnesses such as coughs/colds, etc. For serious matters such as suspected heart attack/stroke please dial a 999 ambulance. For general advice please contact NHS 21 on tel no 111. For cuts/minor strains/sprains please attend a Minor Injuries Unit.
Pharmacies now offer advice/treatment for impetigo and uncomplicated UTIs (urinary tract infections in women aged 16 - 65), as well as smoking cessation advice, healthcare advice, advice regarding minor ailments and emergency contraception advice. Some pharmacies also offer BP monitoring, diabetic screening, weight management and travel vaccines/meds).
If you have not already done so, please make an appointment to have the 'flu vacc if you are eligible, ie, over 65 or under 65 in an at risk group (respiratory, heart, kidney, liver, neurological disease, diabetes, immunosuppression, pregnant, patients in a residental home, carers, morbidly obese or health & care staff).
Online Appointment Booking and Prescription Service
Do you know you can access our online system to make/cancel appointments and order repeat prescriptions? Please ask at Reception if you wish to register for this service. It could save you time, avoid you having to telephone the surgery for appointments/prescriptions and be more convenient for you to use. We would recommend that you register for this service.
There is a central booking telephone number for Ante-natal/maternity appointments, there is no need to make a GP appointment. If you wish to make an ante-natal appointment, please call 0141 232 4005.
We will be sending text appointment reminders to patients. If you have supplied your mobile telephone number, we will assume you agree to receiving texts from us. If, this is not the case, please inform a member of Reception. Please ensure we have your up to date mobile telephone number.

Please help us to help you!
We have noticed a marked increase in patients failing to attend appointments or attending late for appointments. This is a waste of practice resources. An appointment you no longer need could be used by another patient who does need to be seen. If you no longer wish to keep an appointment, please cancel with as much notice as possible. We would appreciate your co-operation with this.
